Lawmakers are moving to cut off the financial pipelines behind left-wing unrest in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) — who had hinted at such action as far back as July — formally requested Monday that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent freeze the assets of Neville Roy Singham, a 71-year-old tech mogul with documented ties to the Chinese Communist Party and a record of funding far-left organizations.
Luna announced her request on X, framing it as a necessary step to stop billionaires from bankrolling riots and hate campaigns that have destabilized U.S. communities.
Neville Singham has spent millions funding militant organizations that have orchestrated violent riots and launched targeted hate campaigns against Americans with different beliefs.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) sharpened her criticism of billionaire Neville Roy Singham on Monday, accusing him of funneling millions into militant organizations that have staged violent riots and hate campaigns against Americans.
“Neville Singham has spent millions funding militant organizations that have orchestrated violent riots and launched targeted hate campaigns against Americans with different beliefs,” Luna wrote on X. “Chairman @RepJamesComer and I are calling on @SecScottBessent at the U.S. Treasury to immediately freeze all of his assets. We will no longer allow billionaires to bankroll anti-American political movements on behalf of foreign governments.”
Alongside the post, Luna shared a letter co-signed with Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), chairman of the House Oversight Committee, formally requesting that the Treasury Department evaluate whether sanctions, asset freezes, or seizures could be imposed on Singham and the entities he funds.
The letter accused Singham of backing June’s riots in Los Angeles, which targeted Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. Comer and Luna further alleged that Singham built “an elaborate dark money network” to route money through nonprofits, some of which they said maintain ties to the Chinese Communist government.
Still, the move drew skepticism online. One commenter wrote, “That would be awesome, but you and all of us know that you aren’t going to do anything. The GOP is a group of cowards that sends strongly worded letters, goes on Fox, and cares more about money and power than the American people just like the demonrats.”

“Ya think?” another user responded sarcastically. “Elon [Musk] and common sense both told you and the @HouseGOP to follow the money to obvious fraud, but Congress refuses to protect conservatives from these criminals. I don’t trust my party to fight for me anymore.”
The frustration reflects a wider theme among conservative voters: while many applaud efforts to expose left-wing financiers, they remain doubtful that Republicans in Congress will take meaningful action beyond letters and hearings.

On one hand, the skepticism is understandable. Congressional Republicans have rarely fought militant leftists with the urgency their voters expect. And Luna had already pushed to freeze Singham’s assets well before Kirk’s assassination, so the move itself is not new.
On the other hand, the murder of a conservative icon has sharpened focus and stiffened resolve. Now, figures as prominent as President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance are among those pledging to turn outrage into action.
For that reason, Luna and Comer deserve some credit. Their effort signals a readiness to strike at the financial networks that fuel leftist extremism — a move conservatives see as cutting off the head of the snake.
